Fly to Mexico City's main international airport, Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX). There are direct flights out of JFK and MIA.
Once you arrive, we recommend taking an Uber from the airport to your Airbnb or hotel. There can be a lot of traffic to & from the airport.
If you would like to book a car service, please reach out to Guillermo (305-490-0791) and he will help coordinate.
-
We recommend that everyone arrives by Thursday, January 30th. If you’re flying from Miami and have a short flight, a Friday morning arrival should also work.
Remember that this is February, so there’s always a chance of snow for our friends & family in the north. An extra day buffer helps!
We strongly recommend extending your stay if you can! We’re putting together a guidebook (coming soon!) to help you plan your trip.
-
Everyone should book their own Airbnb or hotel. We do not have any hotel blocks.
You can find more information about where to stay here.
-
Yes! Mexico City is safe, especially in the areas where we’ll all be staying.
Like any major city, it’s always good to be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on your belongings.
Only use Uber or pre-booked car services, no taxis.
-
Yes it is! Mexico City is at 7,349′, which is technically considered high altitude. It’s not super high, and most people don’t experience altitude sickness, but some may experience headaches or just feel “off.”
Try to stay hydrated and rest if you need it!
-
Nope! Mexico uses the same voltage and plug types as the United States, so there’s no need to bring anything. Your regular plugs should work.
-
Us! You’re not bothering us.
Please text Alexandra (610-413-3749) and Guillermo (305-490-0791) and we’ll help answer any questions you might have.

We’re putting together a guidebook of all our favorite spots that you can use your plan you trip.
Once ready, it will be available here. -
Mexico City is super walkable! Most of our recommendations are within the same general area and can be reached by foot.
If not, we recommend booking Ubers. They are very affordable in CDMX.
-
In February CDMX is usually in the mid 70s during the day, and in the mid 40s or 50s at night. Check the local forecast before you pack!
-
Drink bottled or filtered water rather than tap water. To be extra careful, we recommend using bottled water to brush your teeth, but this is not a major concern. Don’t panic if you forget!
Street food is delicious, but PLEASE stick to brick & mortar restaurants, especially popular spots with a high turnover of customers, as they’re generally fresher.
If you’re not feeling 100%, there are pharmacies all over the city and the employees are very helpful. -
No, definitely not!
Most people speak English, and if not, use Google Translate to bridge the gap.
-
For bars & restaurants, 10-15% is standard (although we often tip 20%).
For Uber or other rideshares, a small tip via the app is appreciated but optional.
-
Most restaurants use Open Table, so you can book ahead online (although there are a handful that don’t take any reservations!). We’ve had luck walking into restaurants without a reservation, so don’t be afraid to try, especially if you’re a smaller group! Worst case you stop somewhere else and get a taco or glass of wine while you wait.
-
Most restaurants should be able to! Servers typically ask if you have allergies, like they do in the US, meaning kitchens are likely able to work with you. It might be harder at some smaller, hole-in-the-wall spots. Generally, service in Mexico is outstanding.
